ABOUT

Originally created for the purpose of documenting the various fires that my mother survived, this archive transformed into an exploration of what life was like for people of color in Brooklyn during the 80's and 90's. Being that this archive is based in fire, it had to be created from ashes, anything that survived the fire. The experiences of my mother and her family were not unique, they were felt by their neighbors and people in their community.

In creating this archive, I hope to create a space where they can see their memories and past in a way that allows them to continue to contribute.

Thank you to my mother, grandmother, and Nelly Rosario, all of whom none of this would have been possible without.
